In follow on from our Annual Conference in August, the new Minister for Defence Personnel The Hon. Dan Tehan MP asked DFA to prioritise their key issues for advocacy moving forward into 2017.

DFA will be working with the Minister, Chief of the Defence Force, Vice Chief of the Defence Force, Service Chiefs and Defence stakeholders to address important issues which affect ADF families. Key priorities continue to include Partner Employment, community centres and support for Defence families.

These issues have been raised as a direct result of DFA meeting with and reporting on issues raised by ADF Families from all regions. Through our ongoing consultation with local command, stakeholders and families, DFA endeavour to advocate for Defence families at the highest levels and ensure that their message is heard.

DFA will continue to seek feedback from families, pursue policy clarification and work on progressive discussions with Defence stakeholders over the coming months.

We invite you to read the Defence Families of Australia 2016-17 Annual Agendacontaining recommendations for government and Defence.
