DFA position available National Convenor

Defence Families of Australia (DFA) is a Minister appointed non-statutory advisory body of Defence. DFA was established to advise Government and Defence on families’ concerns, provide a forum for families to raise matters and assist families in accessing the Defence information they need.   DFA is seeking to appoint a new National Convenor.

This dynamic position reports directly to the Minister for Defence Personnel and the Chief of the Defence Force. The National Convenor’s primary focus is to highlight issues affecting Defence families and to advocate to Government, the Department of Defence and external stakeholders on their behalf.

The ideal applicant will be confident in liaising with the most senior levels of Government and Defence. They must possess excellent communications skills, have a strong knowledge of the challenges facing a modern ADF family and ideally have a background in advocacy or policy development.

This paid part-time position is open to partners of current full time serving members of the ADF, and is based in Canberra.

This position is a part-time role paid in accordance with the Remuneration Tribunal under Determination 2015/20 Remuneration and Allowances for Holders of Part-Time Public Office which came in to effect on 1 January 2016, plus expenses.
