National Delegate: Victoria Dixon
I first joined Defence Families of Australia in January 2017, as the National Delegate for Western Australia. After a couple of years in the West, I moved to Canberra and the opportunity arose to return to DFA as the delegate for the Canberra and Southern NSW region.
I grew up in a Defence family, and I’ve been a Defence partner for many years. With multiple deployments, numerous domestic and international postings, I’ve had extensive experience of ADF family life and the benefits and challenges it offers.
My background is in community organisations and the not-for-profit sector, with a particular interest in policy and governance. In 2018, I received a scholarship from the Women’s Leadership Institute of Australia, completing a Diploma of Business (Governance). I’m a Fellow of the Institute of Community Directors Australia, and currently studying towards a Masters of Business Administration.
Away from DFA, I’m involved in creative arts, and have performed around Australia and overseas. My support and passion for the arts also includes involvement in arts organisations, as a board member of theatre companies and as a volunteer.
The role of a delegate means listening and understanding to ADF members and families, and working together with our stakeholders to navigate the challenges of this unique life. I’m keen to hear from you, your concerns, your successes, and what DFA can do to help your ADF family.
