Advocating for Defence families

National Digital Communications and Marketing Officer

National Digital Communications and Marketing

Tracey Nutt

I started with Defence Families of Australia (DFA) in January 2023 and currently reside in South East Queensland with my husband and our two young children.

I have a long history with the Australian Defence Force (ADF), as a partner of a current serving member in the Royal Australian Airforce (RAAF) since 2007, and numerous family members who have served across all three services of the ADF.

My professional background encompasses experiences in both the communications and education sectors.

I worked in corporate communications for the healthcare industry for a number of years before using my other degree as a primary school teacher across postings in South Australia and New South Wales.

Since going on maternity leave in 2018, I have been working back in the digital communications space across a number of projects.

My background means I have a particular interest in some of our key advocacy goals including: increased communications with ADF families, supporting the Defence School Mentor Program and reducing professional registration barriers for family employment.

Having experienced the highs and lows of postings, deployments and raising children as a Defence family, I am honoured to be given a role where I can utilise both my professional and personal experience in order to support positive change for the ADF community.
