Meet Julie
Julie Hall is a Bank Manager at our Brookside branch in Queensland and started working with Westpac in 2009. Julie’s husband served in the RAAF and she is a proud Supporter of Military Families.
Describe your current role at Westpac and previous roles.
I started my Westpac journey in 2009 as Local Business Banker when I moved from Queensland to Sale in Gippsland Victoria. I then joined the Bank of Melbourne as Bank Manager prior to moving back to Queensland in early 2016 transferring to St George as Bank Manager and in the past 6 months, transferring back to Westpac as Bank Manager for the Brisbane North Region. There I currently lead a fabulous team of 7 retail staff.
As the partner of a serving military member, what are some of the unique challenges you have faced throughout your career?

My husband Tony served in 77 Squadron in the RAAF for 12 years and now contracts to the Military providing Search and Rescue Helicopter services.
This type of work has always required us to live around different bases in different States.
The biggest challenge I ever faced was not knowing whether I could secure employment in a timely manner when moving. This would cause enormous pressure especially when my salary was an important part of our financial needs.
How has Westpac supported you in fulfilling your career and managing these challenges?
Just the fact that the Westpac Group provides incredible brands within different states is a bonus to all employees. It enabled me to develop important relationships within our group, People Leaders who were always there to grow, support and respect my abilities.
Why should partners of serving military members consider Westpac as a future employer?
Working for an organisation that understands and recognises the challenges a Spouse or Partner of a Defence Force member can experience at extremely short notice is one of the reasons I am extremely proud to be part of the organisation. Knowing we can continue to learn and maintain our skills, working in an environment where we will receive support during posting cycles to find available roles or other flexible options, is something unique within the Banking industry and something we should be extremely proud of.
We are committed to making it easier for veterans, reservists and military partners to take their next career step with us. Find out more
